I’ve been meaning to post Jemima’s take on La La Land– people are either totally defensive about loving it or completely in agreement about dismissing it. La la land is cute. If it's 1933. We have to be more evolved storytellers than this. Literally a nap would be more productive. Full Story

The F8 of the Furious

The eighth Fast/Furious movie has an official title and it is The Fate of the Furious and somehow, miraculously not F8 of the Furious. To whoever chooses the names for these movies—YOU HAD ONE JOB. How do you not name it F8 of the Furious?! It’s RIGHT THERE. You can do 2 Fast 2 Furious but you’re too good for “F8”? Oh, well, look who’s a big fancy man in his big fancy pants, using full words instead of number-word hybrids to title his movie. Full Story

I don’t think anyone actually expected The Huntsman: Winter’s War to be good, and it isn’t, so I’m not going to demand anyone spend money on this movie. But if you’re the curious type and/or you remember the charmingly bad sword-and-sorcery movies of yesterday, like Willow and Legend—or the better but still f*cking weird entries into the genre, like The Last Unicorn—then The Huntsman: Winter’s War offers a sort of nostalgia-infused trip back to a time when Hollywood liked making movies with magic and beasties, and was also doing copious amounts of blow in the bathroom. Full Story

The softer side of Charlize Theron

Don’t get it twisted. She’s not cuddly all of a sudden. But this is one of the few profiles of Charlize Theron that I’ve ever read that shows her at her most vulnerable. And while it doesn’t make me any less terrified of her (when she’s coming down a carpet at you, and she does bitch-face better than most, with the exception of maybe Robin Wright, you feel the cold) it does offer a different perspective of someone who’s been famous for a long time – which doesn’t happen often. Full Story

Not a princess dress, of course. That dress is a perfect example of what people mean when they say a piece of clothing is ‘art’. Lainey touched on it a little, but the outfits are a big deal that take a lot of effort and preparation—we can still acknowledge that, especially since they take a lot of people’s very hard work. Full Story
