New York Fashion Week is happening now, because “fashion week” is really a jet-setting month, and last night was the 45th anniversary Michael Kors show. It was held at Lincoln Center in New York and brought out a lot of celebrities. Given that it’s a fall/winter show, Kors showed off outerwear, and the coats are luxe.

Uma Thurman showed up in a beautiful overcoat, and I am obsessed with The Pitt star Supriya Ganesh’s pink coat on slide 4:

Also obsessed with her face! She is so pretty! I am very shallow about this but every time I see Supriya Ganesh I am like, THAT FACE. It’s actually hilarious how they try to make Mohan look like a harried resident doctor on The Pitt but then the light will hit her cheekbones just so and it’s like, I’m sorry to the lighting crew but she is god’s favorite.

Mary J. Blige turned up in what I am hoping is a faux fur ensemble:

And Olivia Munn had a pretty great be-caped ensemble. Michael Kors’s clothes never really set me on fire—his coats are my favorite pieces—but I like the styling here with the gloves and boots. It’s a nice twist on a sort of Seventies style.

Other strong suiting comes from Jenny Slate, Leslie Bibb, and Kate Mara.

Not everyone wore coats or suits, though! Dakota Fanning and Rachel Zegler both had sleeveless looks and appear to be wearing the same pendant.

Meanwhile, Suki Waterhouse turned up dressed like a movie costume designer’s idea of an officer worker:

Bangs are not for me, but I really love her haircut. Seeing Suki got me thinking about Daisy Jones & The Six, in which she plays Karen Sirko. The book was huge but the series just kind of came and went, didn’t it? Is it a victim of COVID? We were all still kind of in a haze when the series dropped in 2023? Or is it because ten episodes rolled out in just four weeks? Did we need longer to build momentum for Daisy? Or did book people not embrace the show?

Speaking of things that might have gotten caught in a COVID haze, Ariana DeBose was there, too, sadly not styled as well as Olivia Munn.

DeBose won an Oscar in 2022 for Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, but since then, she hasn’t gotten that next great role. Quite the opposite, her film/TV roles since winning an Oscar have been outright disastrous, with bomb after bomb on her resume. Maybe that will change now, though, as she stars in Scarpetta alongside Nicole Kidman and Jamie Lee Curtis. The series is adapted from Patricia Cornwell’s long-running mystery series and premieres on Prime Video in March. The trailer dropped yesterday and it looks decent, like a classy procedural. Can this please be the start of something better for Ariana DeBose?
