Ben Affleck was home in LA for the weekend, his birthday weekend. He turned 42 on Friday and has been back and forth from Detroit where he’s shooting Batfleck. Yesterday he and Jennifer Garner were out running errands in his favourite car. Does it seem like this car always needs gas? Like every time he drives it?
We have a long while to wait before Batfleck. But not so long before seeing Ben as Nick Dunne, the perfect Nick Dunne as I’ve argued from the beginning. He is SO that guy. And that’s also why David Fincher wanted to direct him:
“We knew we needed somebody who was charming and could be seductive, who could be a ladies man, a guy’s guy, a frat boy. But most important, [someone] who had the wits and experience of knowing that situation. The gift of having Ben Affleck is that this is a guy who knows. He knows what a lose-lose situation is and understands what’s funny about it, however sad.”
A ladies’ man, a frat boy, and maybe a liar, you just don’t know. YES.
