Shia LaBeouf isn’t alone. He’s made it very clear that Brad Pitt is the “top dog”, as he described it on Kimmel the other day, the John Wayne of Fury, the one you sit down and shut up around…as you gaze adoringly. This is a Man Crush. Shia has one. DETAILS apparently has one too. So this is the strategy, then. Brad Pitt. For Men.
It’s his best photo shoot in years. YEARS!
Perhaps because he’s working with photographer Mark Seliger who’s been shooting him for 20 years. He’s the one with Brad here:
OK. That’s a hot lean, non? If it’s one thing Brad knows, it’s body positioning. And gait.
Anyway, about that man crush – DETAILS editor Dan Peres’s message to readers is basically a love letter to his cover subject. Click here to read it. Every guy wants to be him, that’s the slogan.
And they come back to it again and again in the piece with more man coolness – he rides bikes, he’s a dude who can roll with the dude in the trenches:
“A tank crew must work as a machine. (Pitt plays a World War II tank commander in Fury.) It’s surprising how close five guys get in a tank. I could tell you not only which one farted but what they had for dinner the night before.”
Dude.
DOOOOD.
The dude is a father. And he’s good at that too, obviously:
“I’ve discovered I don’t suck at being a dad.”
But you know, he’s a simple man. He loves trees. He has a tree-themed tattoo – something about the tallest sequoia. He enjoys his contemplative solitude. And just because he’s a man of few words, it doesn’t mean he can’t go deep:
“My soul was stolen by the camera so long ago, I don’t have to think about it anymore… One definition of freedom is the ability to follow your bliss without being watched, recorded, scrutinized.”
OK but please watch, record, and scrutinise now. At least until you see Fury.
