According to Deadline, now that he’s wrapped up Tom Hardy as the likely villain in The Dark Knight Rises, Christopher Nolan is currently looking for two female leads to play two parts: Bruce Wayne’s new love interest and a villain. His list right now includes Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, and Keira Knightley.

Um, when did Blake Lively get invited to the Elite Girls’ Club with Portman, Hathaway, and Knightley? And why the f-ck is she being considered, seemingly, for every f-cking movie? Is it because Anna Wintour likes her? No, for reals. Is it? It’s like ever since Wintour decided Blake was a fashion girl, her career picked up as well. That bitch rules the runways. I didn’t know she ruled Hollywood too.

Then again, it appears as though Portman, Hathaway, and Knightley are always fighting each other for the same parts. An unusual suspect would make for a nice change, non? Maggie Gyllenhaal was a great offbeat choice to replace Katie Holmes so it’s not like Nolan hasn’t made bold choices before. And with his track record, he could nominate anyone and probably get approval.

Why not Olivia Thirlby or Greta Gerwig or the up and coming Jessica Chastain? Not that I’m not a fan of Portman, Hathaway, and Knightley but at the same time, as we circle around the same and the same and the same, it’s also getting boring.

As for who gets what re: girlfriend vs villain – do you give the girlfriend role to the winner among the younger group of actresses, leaving the bad girl part to the 40 year old actresses Weisz or Watts? Or do you make the 40 year old (who is actually closer in age to Christian Bale) the girlfriend and have the 20 something take the asshole role which, probably, going by convention, might be more interesting and fun? I’m having a hard time deciding.
