Gwyneth Paltrow was one of the producers of Stand Up To Cancer. The goal of SU2C was to raise over $100 million in support of cancer research. The event was simulcast around the world, even on competing conventional and cable networks and streamed on Yahoo! and Hulu without commercials and featured performances by Jennifer Hudson, Lupe Fiasco, Common, The Who, Dave Matthews, and Ariana Grande.
Many celebrities gave moving remarks, including Pierce Brosnan who lost both his first wife Cassandra and his daughter Charlotte to ovarian cancer. If you’ve not seen this yet, you might need a moment to yourself afterwards.
As Gwyneth said, we all know someone who’s been affected by cancer, that c-nt. For me personally, it’s both my mother and my mother-in-law. My ma was treated for multiple myeloma a couple of years ago and Jacek’s is a breast cancer survivor going on 12 years.
