Jake Gyllenhaal was also at the amfAR gala last night and spent some time hanging out with Zoe Kravitz. I’m about to put Zoe Kravitz on my Five List. Am obsessed with her. She’s a charismatic performer. Even though she’s active on social media, she still manages to maintain a distance, a mystery, remaining unknowable. It’s really sexy. And how can you take your eyes off her? She’s all steeze. So of course I would totally, totally support this gossip wish, as unlikely as it might be. Jake is so skittish, if he’s not running from a photographer at an event like this, there’s probably nothing there, not at all. Also she posted two shots of them together on Instagram. You know how that works. Unless you’re married to Kanye West, if it makes it on to social media, it’s really not that personal.
Jake, however, is not on social media. And during promotion for Nightcrawler last year, he talked about avoiding it, and how its pervasiveness makes him uncomfortable. So how does it work when you have two celebrities and they’re at a party and one of them wants to document the hang? Did Zoe clear it with Jake before posting? Is it a straight up respect thing or does hierarchy have anything to do with it? Like, say, if it were someone more along the lines of Kellan Lutz, would she not f-cking bother with the permission because she’s obviously on a higher level? Sure, it’s gross to walk around ranking people.
But isn’t that the entire point of Hollywood? Fame is measured in degrees.
PS. Remember Zoe and Michael Fassbender? And Fassbender had Alicia Vikander there with him. It’s a coincidence only I find interesting but Zoe and Alicia are the same age, born 2 months apart.
PPS. Today Zoe’s with Pharrell and the cast of Dope, opening June 19. Everyone was talking about Dope after Sundance. I just watched the red band trailer. OMG it’s the teen movie of the summer, I can’t wait.
