It’s relief and fury at the same time.
As I reported exclusively last month, click here for a refresher, Justin Timberlake was being considered to play Gypsy Husband aka Colin Farrell in the film adaptation of Emma Forrest’s Your Voice In My Head. My sources tell me he had it. That they wanted him. But it’s not happening anymore because it wouldn’t work with his schedule. HIS schedule.
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s good news, of course it is. For those of us who loved the book (my review is here if you’ve not read it) we have narrowly avoided disaster. Great.
But it still bites my ass that he was their choice. That somehow they thought he could do it. That they believed Pipsqueak capable of taking on such a complicated, conflicted character. Have they actually watched any of his previous work? How is it that they’re not seeing what we’re seeing? How is it that they can watch him in In Time or Friends With Benefits or The Social Network and say to themselves, well, this dude can act the sh-t out of a part...???
Is this a James Franco art project? An elaborate art experiment about pulling off the ultimate talent hoax? If that’s actually what’s happening here, I’ll bend over and eat all the sh-t I’ve ever talked about James Franco and declare him a new da Vinci. If only.
