Kristen Stewart was photographed boarding a private plane the other day and many Twi-Hards were hopeful that she was off to London to join Robert Pattinson for the holidays. Instead she flew to Dallas. And rather than reconcile with Pattinson she spent time with Karl Lagerfeld. Chanel has just named her the face of the Paris-Dallas collection campaign.
Chanel > Love
Good decision. When Stewart showed up at the Chanel Haute Couture presentation in July, I wrote at the time that “front row at Chanel (is better) than holding on to a relationship that’s run its course”.
The benefits to Stewart’s partnership with Chanel are obvious. It’s a prestige brand. The brag factor is big. And what does Chanel get out of Stewart? Her predecessors include Keira Knightley, Diane Kruger, and Blake Lively. All safe choices. Karl was in the mood for a little edge then. And it’s a good choice – she can wear the look, she can certainly wear the attitude. No objection here. But when will they ever come around to diversity?
You know who else was front row in July? Rihanna. And there’s no one more badass in style than Rihanna.
