Miley Cyrus gives me an excuse to talk about Brandon Flowers

As I mentioned yesterday, Miley Cyrus was in New York last night performing at the Adult Swim upfront party. Then she went out to party with Bella Hadid and Scout Willis. And her nipples were all over the place. Get over it.

In other Miley news, her focus lately has been on launching Happy Hippie Foundation, a non-profit aimed to raise awareness for LGBT homeless, at-risk and LGBT youth and collaborating with other artists in a series of Backyard Sessions in support of the charity. Her latest singing partner? I Can’t Ariana Grande. The song? Crowded House’s Don’t Dream It’s Over. I love this song. And while I hate that I have to listen to I Can’t singing it, it’s for great cause so… does that mean I have to put away my c-nt? Miley’s perfect for this. But I Can’t’s voice is… not the way I want to hear this music, to which I’ve attached so many memories. It was the 80s. And at the time they kept telling us that the 80s wasn’t the 70s and the 60s. That our music was disposable. There is nothing disposable about Don’t Dream It’s Over.

Look. I’m always down for a good cover. But you have to set up the right person with the right song. But fine. They’re trying to send a positive message. I won’t crab. And besides, this actually gave me an excuse to talk about my current mega-crush, Brandon Flowers. (Have you been streaming The Desired Effect? It’s a GREAT album.) During my obsessive creeping of him the other day, I came across The Killers’ cover of Don’t Dream It’s Over:

And then I read a new interview during which he talked about the impact that music has had on his life. He namechecked The Pretenders. One of the most perfect songs of all time: Don’t Get Me Wrong. So now an idea. For Miley’s next Backyard Session. Miley + BFlow doing Don’t Get Me Wrong. Right???
