Sunday’s Super Bowl Trailer Apocalypse also included a new TV spot for X-Men: Apocalypse, the superhero movie I can never seem to remember is coming out this summer. I’m sure this movie will be fine and that it will make a bunch of money, but doesn’t it feel like an afterthought coming on the heels of Superhero Face Punch and Captain America: Civil War? Every time it comes up I have an “Oh yeah, that exists” reaction, and it’s my job to keep track of this stuff. I can’t imagine what it’s like for people who aren’t required to care about this.

The TV spot is more destruction porn, compounding the destruction porn already seen in the first trailer, and it’s doing that thing all trailers do now where they play a slowed-down cover version of a vaguely creepy song, which is all sh-t that adds to the also-ran feeling of this movie. There is some actual cool stuff in here, though, like a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it glimpse of Archangel and Nightcrawler in what appears to be a cage fight, and then, the big moment, the arrival of Olivia Munn as Psylocke.

This, and teenaged Storm (Alexandra Shipp), is all I care about in this movie so far. And this, at least, looks f*cking amazing. Munn as Psylocke looks straight out of the comics—so glad the X-Men are finally embracing their kooky, colorful costumes—and her purple energy katana looks badass. X-Men: Apocalypse may or may not be completely forgettable, but PLEASE deliver on Psylocke. All I ask from this movie is a memorable, cool Psylocke.
