Hi Hayley: I'm training for my first marathon this fall. Yay, turning 30 bucket list! I am using Hal Higdon's Novice 1 training program, which seems to be going okay so far. I'm also losing weight, which is great, because I had a bit to lose. However, as I lose weight, I'm noticing more flab. Full Article

I had a client the other day ask me to recommend to her a way that she could lose weight quickly, and if you have been reading this column enough you already know what my answer is. There is no way to lose weight quickly…but she wanted more clarification and started to ask me about all of the fad diets that she hears about in the media, the lunch room and the locker room at the gym. Full Article

A few weeks ago, a mentor of mine asked me a question while we were discussing pain and pain management. He asked me what kind of relationship I had with my body. This got me thinking…  If I had to give an answer right now, a brutally honest answer, I would say that I have a pretty sh-tty relationship with my body, and I am confident that many of you reading probably feel the same. Full Article

Hi Hayley! I need help! I am very out of shape at the moment and need a plan to get back on track. I've always been active with "beer league" sports a couple times a week (ball hockey, volleyball, tennis, etc.). However, recently I broke a finger and also had wrist surgery for a herniated muscle (apparently very rare!), so I am only now slowly getting back into these activities. Full Article

I'm often asked by readers and my clients about how many calories they should eat in a day and how many calories they should burn. I often recommend food tracking apps as a way to help my clients hold themselves accountable to what they are putting in their bodies but I stress to them that these tools are just guidelines. Full Article

Hi Hayley  I’m a mom of three, my youngest is 8 months old (my others are 7 and 10 years). I’m 42 and I’ve always been thin and averaged 115-120 since I was a teenager at 5’6. Since my last pregnancy I’ve brought my weight down to 120ish again, but the weight is holding differently with more in my tummy with a pooch. Full Article

You don’t need much time or equipment to give yourself a full body workout, so there really is no excuse not to exercise. However, my problem with a lot of the “at home” or “limited equipment” workouts is that they tend to be a bit on the easy side and if you are only working out for 20 minutes you need to work out HARD! Here are 3 of my trusted circuits that require little, or no, equipment pieces and can help you burn MEGA calories. Full Article

This is the time of the year when my clients start asking me how they can get beach body ready and that question is like nails on a chalkboard to me. I have never been a trainer who prescribes meal plans or stresses the importance of being skinny. Instead, I promote living in *your* best body and being *your* best self and putting in the work to achieve whatever your best is. Full Article

I’m off for a little solo R&R this week on the beaches of Croatia and as much as I love to run while I’m on vacation my carryon is filled with shoes to drink and eat in, not workout in. Luckily I have just enough room to fit a couple of workout bands into my suitcase so I wanted to share with you how a 20 minute, barefoot workout can keep your body strong and keep you feeling confident while you’re ocean or poolside (or if you are only dreaming of being poolside because life is way too busy for any kind of vacation and all you really have time for a is a 20 minute barefoot workout because you have no idea where your shoes are). Full Article

Hi Hayley! SO long story short, I had a breakdown brought on from work stress 3 years ago. I ended up being diagnosed with Bipolar. I'm completely fine now and doing very well on the medication. The only kicker is that the meds have contributed to a ton of weight gain (50 pounds to be exact.) It's honestly been so awful, I feel like I'm not even myself anymore. Full Article
