Rob Lowe is promoting a new book called Love Life. I can imagine. What are the stories that aren’t fit to print?

Anyway, while promoting the book a few days ago, Rob talked about how his looks may have gotten in the way of his career. Like Mrs Timberlake and others before him, his beauty was, apparently, a burden. He told The New York Times:

"When I was a teen idol, I was so goddamn pretty I wouldn't have taken myself seriously. There's this unbelievable bias and prejudice against quote-unquote good-looking people, that they can't be in pain or they can't have rough lives or be deep or interesting. They can't be any of the things that you long to play as an actor. I'm getting to play those parts now and loving it."

Um. I don’t know, Rob. Brad Pitt didn’t seem to have a problem. And they’re basically the same age. Also, does he know what he looks like? Because he’s STILL SO PRETTY. Check him out today in NYC at a book signing. Even the creases on his forehead are gorgeous.

What’s confusing to me is that in his book, Rob reveals that when he quit drugs and women and got married, he decided to prioritise family and children:

“My career was now a means to an end, to make it easier to devote myself to my real passion: helping Sheryl raise our boys.”

So what is it? Were you too hot for the parts or were you just not going for the parts? It’s kind of not the same. No but seriously…how does he LOOK THE SAME?!?
