Katie M sends me a lovely note several times a week for Robert Pattinson news. Today she promised it would be her last for the Olympic break. Katie is an example of a sane fan. I expect I’ll be hearing from a lot of insane fans today. Or if you’re a Twi-Hard, please look away. You will not approve.
Access Hollywood just released an exclusive clip from Pattinson’s upcoming film Remember Me due out in theatres March 12th. It’s our first glimpse of RP away from the cheese dialogue of Twilight on which much of his mooning moody fontrum previous performances can be blamed. With a more contemporary script, and what seems to be a less eyeroll inducing storyline, you’d think there’s reason to hope that Pattinson has some talent as an actor.
Well...not judging from this scene. It’s the same Edward Cullen contrived affectations. Watching him makes me uncomfortable. And not in a good way. In what way then? Well, in the way you felt when Marcus was about to sing Killing Me Softly in About a Boy. Remember that?
Woah. Easy Hardies. I want him to be good. Because he’s a huge star. He could be one of the biggest. Which means he’ll be offered important roles, with huge expectations, and I will want to see those movies. And I enjoy movies. And as such, I will want to enjoy him in those movies. So he needs to back his face up with some talent.
A long time ago, I wrote this article about Pattinson becoming Orlando Bloom. After the hype of Pirates, Bloom made a film called Elizabethtown. And he stanked it. And the accent was a problem too. But this, this is just one clip. It doesn’t define a film. So perhaps Remember Me will not be Pattinson’s Elizabethtown. Hope not for his sake. Because he is so very pretty. But you don’t want that to be the only thing he is.
