In 2010, both Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds ended their marriages. His split, obviously, was much less dramatic than hers. They closed the year together though, in Texas, over dinner at her restaurant surrounded by friends. There are photos. These photos have been embargoed, likely secured by some magazine for an exclusive about their “Hot New Romance!” when publications hit newsstands tomorrow before being released wide by the weekend.

The pictures aren’t really all that exciting. They’re at a table with other people, Sandra is wearing a black wig cut in a bob, seems to be dressed up like a dancer from the 20s, and Ryan is in regular street clothes with a pageboy cap on his head. They’re talking. Not touching.

Her rep has already issued a statement to People.com:

"A group of old friends that included Ryan and Sandra spent New Year's together at Sandra's restaurant Bess Bistro. They all had a great time ringing in the New Year as they have in the past ... as nothing more than friends."

Free publicity for Bess Bistro!

And a very definitive statement about their relationship: “nothing more than friends”, which reminds me of when Sandy was dating Matthew McConaughey, and her answer to the question back then was “we’re friends”, and then went on to clarify later, after it was over, that she never said “JUST” friends, and that was her way of getting around it.

Just Friends happens to be the title of one of Ryan’s more forgettable features.

Are he and Sandy “just friends”?

Right now, I’d say yes. But friendship can evolve. And they certainly do have chemistry. I’m into it. You? We can discuss during the LiveBlog later today.

Here are Sandy and Ryan last year at the People’s Choice Don’t Mean Nothin’ Awards and on promotion for The Proposal in 2009.
