Rihanna was the musical guest for the season finale of Saturday Night Live last week. SNL cast member Sasheer Zamata, who’s parodied RiRi before, livechatted this weekend about meeting her:
"We had had a good night after the dress rehearsal, and she turned around and saw me and she was like 'Hey!' and she gave me a hug. Then she got drunker progressively throughout the show, and at the end of good nights for the actual show, I went up to give her a hug because I was like 'We're good, we're besties now,'" Zamata said, laughing. "And I was like 'Hey!' and she was like [mimes bored wave]. So I was like 'Ohhh, wow your true feelings are coming out!'"
I don’t feel like this should surprise you. Or anyone. She’s BadGalRiRi. It’s not like she’s ever sold herself as warmth and hugs. What I love about this story is that Sasheer is willing to tell it. Normally among celebrities there’s an oath of silence. And at this point in Sasheer’s career, she hasn’t yet built up the industry cred to be able to talk sh-t. That said, there’s a loyalty within the SNL family that might be able to shield her, if Rihanna even bothers with this at all. Which… I’m not sure she would. Revealing that RiRi’s attitude gets way more extra after she’s had a few shots isn’t a problem for her image.
Here she is out for dinner last night in New York giving me some hair inspiration. The half-knot is already one of my favourite hairstyles – here’s me looking super cross-eyed while wearing one:

But now…
The DOUBLE half-knot?
I’m in.
