The Screen Actors Guild announced their nominations this morning. There will be no Pitt Porn at the SAGs. Angelina Jolie was not nominated for Best Actress in The Tourist. Michelle Williams was also not nominated for Best Actress for her work in Blue Valentine. Instead, Hilary Swank took the 5th spot for Conviction which, well, Swank has pretty much been ignored by everyone else so far so I guess she has more friends in the Guild...?

On the Actor side, no Ryan Gosling either. Robert Duvall for Get Low instead, joining Colin Firth, James Franco, Jesse Eisenberg, and Jeff Bridges. Unlike the HFPA, the Screen Actors Guild did not tell True Grit to f-ck off. They did however have no time for Mark Wahlberg, even though Christian Bale and Amy Adams were both singled out for The Fighter, and the cast was recognised in the Best Ensemble category which, at the SAGs, is considered Best Picture. Going from that criteria, it would appear, at least in SAG terms, that The King’s Speech is the favourite going in with nominations for Firth and Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

So far it looks like Firth, Franco, and Eisenberg are locked for Oscar nominations for Best Actor with two spots up for grabs between Bridges, Duvall, Gosling, and maybe Javier Bardem for Biutiful.

As for The Social Network, riding a wave of major wins going into this week, nominations for Ensemble and Eisenberg for Best Actor but no one else, so fangirls of Andrew Garfield are all suicidal. But do you know who did get a nomination instead for Best Supporting Actor?

Inception and Lost and Friday Night Lights continue to get no respect.

Big ups to Chris Colfer for joining the big boys in the Outstanding Male Actor Comedy Series category. Glee’s Kurt is nominated alongside heavyweights Alec Baldwin, Steve Carell, Ed O’Neill, and Ty Burrell.

On the ladies side, four names seem like sure bets for Oscar nominations: Bening, Portman, Kidman, and Jennifer Lawrence. So there’s a lot of hair pulling for that final slot between Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Michelle Williams, and, I guess, Hilary Swank.

By the way:

Jennifer Love Hewitt was not nominated for a SAG. Because, obviously. And Justin Timberlake will be there, but only as part of The Social Network ensemble. Which means, as the film’s weakest link, he’ll sit in the best seat at their table and, if they win, deliver the acceptance speech on their behalf.
