It’s Shailene Woodley’s big moment. Friday. Divergent. Are you going? Will Shailene Woodley follow Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Lawrence? Or will she be more like Lily Collins? The film is not getting great reviews. Just 31% right now on Rotten Tomatoes. Critics do mostly agree however that Woodley’s performance is solid. And besides, it’s not like reviews hurt Twilight so that’s not necessarily a harbinger of bad box office. Having said that, the invariable here is the adult vote. Because while teens will likely ignore the negative feedback, the grownups are the ones they need to make this a multi-demographic success. That’s what carried Twilight. You remember the Twilight Moms, don’t you?

As for the star power of Shailene Woodley – for Stewart it was the Bella Swan transfer and the chemistry with Robert Pattinson; Jennifer Lawrence broke through on charisma. What is Shailene’s “It”?

Maybe …nature?

She was asked by PEOPLE yesterday at the Los Angeles premiere of Divergent, Woodley’s answer was:

“Get in a bath and look at your body and be like, ‘Wow, thank you so much for hosting my mind and my heart,’ like as women you know, and also be pregnant with the world. I think that’s really beautiful beauty advice, like, close your eyes and think about all of the other women out there who aren’t in positions to be on a red carpet in Hollywood tonight enjoying this beautiful weather and all of these beautiful smiles and put those women in your womb and be pregnant with them and send them love.”

Am I in Shailene Woodley’s womb? Are you? Are we in there together? Are we making a fort?

Like, it’s not that I don’t get her point. We should be one with each other. We should hold hands virtually. I just… I just…

I just don’t respond to that kind of expression, that kind of language. I don’t want to take my shoes off.

But I understand that there are many others – most others? – who do. And for those people, Shailene Woodley’s the girl. She wore Elie Saab last night. And posed with Theo James with whom we’re supposed to believe she might be in a relationship. I don’t know if I believe that.
