The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – aka the Oscar Academy – typically hosts an Oscar Nominees Luncheon every year to celebrate everyone a few weeks before the big night. This is where they also remind potential winners about keeping their speeches tight and right and gently ask them not to thank their agents and lawyers, even though they always do. The luncheon is also where the class photo happens. 

 

This year the luncheon didn’t happen because of the fires. Instead, with just four days to go until the Oscars, the Academy hosted a dinner with all nominees gathered and, finally, the classic photo of 2025 became a reality. 

 

Interestingly, do you know who’s missing? 

Karla Sofía Gascón.

It was confirmed earlier this week that Netflix would be paying for Karla to be at the Oscars but I guess that’s just for the weekend because she did not show up for the dinner… though it could also be a scheduling thing because she’s confirmed to attend the César Awards in Paris on Friday night. Still, how many times is one nominated for an Oscar, you know? Flying back and forth between LA and Paris is not impossible over 72 hours, celebrities do it all the time. But Netflix’s generosity clearly stops at multiple PJs for such a divisive figure.
