Just saw an interesting headline about Angelina Jolie this morning. Per the Associated Press, she’s selling a piece of art:
“Christie’s auction house said Monday that the Moroccan landscape “Tower of the Koutoubia Mosque” — a gift from Churchill to U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt — is being sold by Angelina Jolie next month with an estimated price of 1.5 million pounds to 2.5 million pounds ($2.1 million to $3.4 million).”
Experts are saying the sale of the piece could set a record, as some consider it to be Churchill’s “most important work”. That may be true… or it may be hype, so as to drive up the bids.
Angelina and Brad Pitt acquired the painting ten years ago in 2011. Interestingly though, it’s the Jolie Family Collection that’s putting the painting up for auction and, since the two are still working out the terms of their divorce, with speculation that money and division of assets is one of the factors, including their “extensive art collection”.
Is this a sign that they have indeed come to an agreement? Or are close to it? Presumably she wouldn’t be selling the piece if she didn’t have all rights to do so – and in such a high profile way. Christie’s isn’t exactly the black market. And if that’s not the case, I would expect we’d be hearing about it soon.
In other Angelina news, she went shopping the other day with Zahara, I’m trying to figure out if they’re at Nordstrom Rack. If you live in LA, let me know. Nordstrom Rack, of course, is probably more suitable for teenagers since they outgrow everything (physically and stylistically) so quickly. And there are really good deals. I once got a denim jacket originally priced over $250 at Nordstrom Rack for $49. I’d been looking for longer-length denim jacket since seeing it on Katie Holmes. The one I got is not exactly hers, I don’t think, but it is Eileen Fisher and I love it, it’s amazing, and it was just sitting there, unwanted!
Anyway, Zahara was also seen finishing up her last driver’s lesson this weekend (not pictured) so, presumably, she’ll be driving herself around soon – another reminder of how old they’re all getting, how quickly time has passed. Maddox is in his second year of university and Pax, now 17, is probably making post-secondary plans now, if college is what he wants. Soon it’ll be Z’s turn.
