Anne Hathaway: From Paris to Milan

Destination fashion travel for both Annie Hathaway and Andy Sachs. Anne Hathaway was also at the Balenciaga show on the weekend and while Meghan Sussex was probably the VIP among the VIPs, Annie’s look was the best. 

This fit, this face card, it was one of the only moments all weekend that distracted me from my priority: the Toronto Blue Jays. GO JAYS GO! But also, holy f-cking sh-t, Anne Hathaway. 

You know she knows too. She is feeling herself, and she should. That mullet t-shirt over the pants and the gloves is such a f-cking mood. This is Annie showing up for Pierpaolo Piccioli and there’s history here. You’ll recall, it was three years ago, when PP was still at Valentino, that Annie went mega fashion viral during the now famous pink collection.

That was near the beginning of her style renaissance aka Anniessance and, obviously, the affection with Pierpaolo has remained … even though she would go on to become an ambassador for Versace. Which is interesting because Versace is now no longer Donatella although, obviously, she remains connected with the brand, just not designing for it. The new creative director is Dario Vitale and that first collection was a mess. Curious to see how or even if Annie fits in with the new direction. She made it to PP for Balenciaga but she wasn’t at Versace but maybe it was a scheduling thing? 

Anne and Emily Blunt were in Milan today (where Versace was presented) shooting The Devil Wears Prada 2. There’s been a whole musical chairs situation with the creative directors across fashion houses and I wonder if that’ll result in some celebrity ambassador shifts too. Earlier today I wrote about Chanel and Ayo Edebiri. Ayo was a favourite of Matthieu Blazy when he was at Bottega Veneta and she’s just been appointed the first Chanel ambassador under his stewardship. Greta Lee followed Jonathan Anderson from Loewe to Dior. Will Annie jump to Balenciaga from Versace?
