We are one week away from the Met Gala, the Super Bowl of fashion. To mark the countdown, the Tiffany Blue Book “Sea of Wonder” launch was held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art over the weekend—you could call it the Pro Bowl to the Met Gala’s Super Bowl.
Tiffany has a lot of celebrity ambassadors, including Tracee Ellis Ross, Zoe Kravitz, Rosé, Jimin, Gabrielle Union, and Anya Taylor-Joy. Gabrielle and ATJ were on hand at the gala, along with Tiffany’s newest ambassadors: Mikey Madison, Greta Lee, and Canadian artist Anna Weyant.
ATJ was there with her husband, Malcolm McRae (if they have a kid, it will be all cheekbone). She did her usual take on Audrey Hepburn in vintage Dior, always a safe choice for an event like this. The shawl is a nice touch, but I am getting bored by Anya’s looks. She never looks bad, per se, but it’s getting predictable—tight hair, dramatic eyes, the dress is probably slinky. I miss her collaboration with Law Roach.
Another couple on the blue carpet were artist Anna Weyant and her boyfriend, musician Jason Isbell. Gossip trivia: Isbell filed for divorce from his wife, Amanda Shires, in December 2023 (it was just finalized last month). In February 2024, Weyant attended one of his concerts, marking the beginning of their relationship. The politics of divorce and dating overlap: discuss.
Gabrielle Union also turned up with her husband, Dwyane Wade, who painted his nails Tiffany blue. I don’t love Gabrielle’s Danielle Frankel dress—the hemline is awkward—but the pendant necklace is great, and that face card never declines.
Speaking of faces, GRETA LEE. The jewelry is almost redundant, you do not need to gild that lily. But for the record, she wore a set from the Blue Book’s “urchin” chapter (the dress is from Loewe). Last year she made her Met Gala debut. Will she repeat next week? We can dream.
As for Mikey Madison, she keeps getting put in unflattering frocks. This yellow number is custom Givenchy, and it looks like Temu Prom. The material looks cheap and the ruching around the waist is unflattering, never mind the color does nothing for her complexion. A fair complexion does not always suit pale colors! Trust me, I have dark hair/eyes and fair skin, and pale yellow is a no-go color. I assume they’re playing off the yellow diamond she’s wearing, but that stone is a much warmer tone than this dress.
Other attendees include Quinta Brunson, Alicia Keys, Cooper Koch, and Zoey Deutch giving femme fatale in Victoria Beckham. And then there is Taylor Russell, in sheer chiffon by Connor Ives. I sort of expect more from Taylor? The dress is a little bridal—not a bad reference for Tiffany, but like ATJ’s Audrey cosplay, a safe choice. She looks very pretty, but I want more from Taylor Russell than “pretty”. It makes me think she’s going to the Met Gala next week, and she’s saving the big look for the big carpet. This is, after all, just a warmup
