Anya Taylor-Joy is on the final push for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga opening this weekend. She’s been in New York this week doing press and yesterday stepped out in this amazing dress – I love a teacup cut, and I will never be mad at a high collar so both of these in combination already make it a winner.

But the really special feature here is the pattern. And the way it reflects. Because from almost every angle, at least what I’ve seen, is that it looks like an oil painting… right? Like if you were to touch it, it wouldn’t feel like fabric, or rather it would feel like canvas with a layer of paint?

This is custom Marni and here’s what it looked like on runway:

As much as I like Anya’s dress, I actually prefer the runway version – that coat is insane, and the “painting” is even better when there’s less white.

But here’s another Anya look that I missed from the weekend when Team Furiosa was in London. She wore this to the photo call – all Margiela. When and if I can get my feet in those shoes…

You know what I love about this fit? In the old days people would be screaming about how this is fall vibes, but whatever, for celebrities, since they don’t have to actually function in these clothes, does it really matter? She’s in London, it’s overcast, she looks amazing, doesn’t matter what season it is. And it’s not like she has to spend all day in it.

While we’re here, this was the London premiere look. No pants, Giambattista Valli. And I kinda wish she hadn’t gone with the sheer tights.
