Anya Taylor-Joy continues working on the upcoming Apple TV+ series Lucky, adapted from Marissa Stapley’s book and produced by Reese Witherspoon and her book-to-production pipeline at Hello Sunshine. Last time we saw Anya on set, she was sporting red hair, now she’s rocking a blonde bob. Her character, Lucky, is a con artist and apparently a wig aficionado.

Also, Lucky is partially a Los Angeles production, which as the city rebuilds from the devastating Eaton and Palisades fires, is crucial to the city’s economy. Many people from all around the industry lost their homes in the fires, more are faced with expensive repairs, and some have already left the city, while others will find it hard to stay if there is no work. A commitment to filming movies and series in Los Angeles is key to sustaining the film industry in Hollywood itself. Gavin Newsom just announced 51 film projects have committed to filming in California under the state’s tax incentive program.

It’s not specified how many will be in Los Angeles, but probably most of them, as that is the state’s production hub. That’s thousands of jobs, some of which will undoubtedly go to people rebuilding their lives. Also, one of the new films is the Community movie. It’s actually happening. Six seasons AND A MOVIE!

Anyway, here’s Anya at work yesterday. Not pictured: Timothy Olyphant. You know I was checking for him.
