When Anna Wintour and Bill Nighy showed up together, arm in arm, at the Met Gala, people assumed that they were finally confirming their relationship. It’s been speculated for years that Anna and Bill were more than just friends – were they finally coming out?
For a few hours, the answer seemed to be yes, they were stepping out on the First Monday in May to premiere their romance.
But then the next morning, a plot twist. Bill’s rep told Page Six that:
“Bill and Anna have simply been great friends for two decades. They are not in a relationship.”
That’s the word from Bill’s side. On Anna’s side though, per Page Six:
“Although reps for Wintour declined to comment about the relationship, a source close to the Condé Nast chief told Page Six: “We think last night speaks for itself.”
The Met Gala is basically the Oscars for Anna Wintour. And it’s not like Anna “just needed an escort” for her own party. She has walked that carpet on her own many times before, including last year. So the fact that Bill was with her this year does “speak for itself”. But…
If the Met Gala is Anna’s Oscars, the Oscars are Bill’s Oscars, and he was nominated for an Oscar this year and went to the Oscars six weeks ago without her. So…
Does that mean that Anna thinks they’re in a relationship but Bill Nighy doesn’t? LOL, is Bill Nighy a f-ckboy?! I love Bill Nighy, and I can see why even the infamously chilly Anna Wintour might be in his thrall.
