Glen & Sydney: Art and Life and Art

Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney starred in Anyone But You as two people who hook up on a one night stand and end up at her sister’s wedding together. During filming, even though Sydney was engaged at the time, everyone on social media was rumouring that there was something going on between them IRL. 

Later on, both would not only deny the speculation but admit to playing the public, using it to their advantage to sell the movie. What we learned from that situation: these two love the gossip and the gossip loves them. 

Cut to the present, and the gossip last week was about Sydney’s broken engagement – in my post about it a few days ago, I wrote about how she seemed to be encouraging the assumption that she’s now single on Instagram. With thirst traps, LOL. 

And now it’s art imitates life imitates art, or life imitates art imitates life, whatever because this weekend Glen and Sydney were at a wedding together – DeuxMoi posted some photos from the rehearsal dinner. 

It was Glen’s sister, Leslie’s, wedding. Leslie worked on Anyone But You so Sydney’s known her a while and according to TMZ , Sydney showed up for the wedding weekend with a friend and had RSVP’d long before she and Jonathan Davino’s relationship went south. But… you know… why bother with the facts – and I’m not saying this to be a curmudgeon, I mean it. And what I just said a couple of paragraphs ago: that these two celebrities, Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney, give good gossip… seemingly willingly. They didn’t mind it when they were filming their movie, I can’t imagine they mind it now. It’s what the people want! A distraction, starring two very hot, very savvy people who are very good at feeding the beast. It doesn’t matter whether or not it’s true, it just matters that they’re out here playing the game and scripting their own rom-com. Or rom-con.
