Ana de Armas: Chopper Access

As just mentioned in the previous post about Tom Cruise, he was busy promoting his movie all last week in Japan and Korea and also this weekend in London. Ana de Armas, however, evidently still has helicopter privileges when he’s not with her because the chopper took her to Heathrow on Saturday and now she’s in New York. She was seen going for a walk on her own yesterday, presumably she’s there because Ballerina promotion begins this week. 

Ballerina, of course, is part of the John Wick Universe and it’s opening two weeks after Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning on June 6. She is the star of the film, Keanu Reeves makes an appearance (he’s in the trailer, this is not a spoiler), but this is her story, she’s carrying it, and a June open means there are expectations. 

I say this in regards to the speculation about TomAna’s relationship because, well, she might have more to get out of it – in addition to helicopter rides – than he does. I wrote about this in my last mailbag column for The Squawk. Remember, Ana was dating Manuel Anido Cuesto just a few months ago and was heavily criticised for it because he’s the stepson of the president of Cuba who’s been accused of corruption and authoritarian leadership. She would have been aware of it because her socials were getting hammered and comments were restricted and TikTok was ripping her a new one. 

If she’s aware, the studio would be aware. And nervous. You put all that money into what you hope is a summer blockbuster meant to expand a film franchise and if your star is getting all this smoke just months before the release, there had to have been some phone calls. 

I’m not trying to stoke any conspiracies, just raising the possibility that she might need a press distraction more than he does.
