As Seen On Social Media: Oscar-winning glasses, Selena’s bow tank

Molly O’Brien at the Oscars

I received this request and glasses are so hard but these are worth the search. It is for Molly O’Brien, who won an Oscar for Short Documentary Film for The Only Girl in the Orchestra. Geometric gold frames are quite common but the dimensions of these frames are so specific. I think, THINK, they are Chloé. There are many other similar styles, like these Ray-Bans, but the Chloé’s seem to hit in all the right places.

Selena Gomez’s Cute White Tank

Lainey has been writing about Selena Gomez’s relationship with Erin Walsh and this collaboration has been excellent for both of them. Selena makes a lot of public appearances between her brands and Only Murders in the Building, she is often on the red carpet but never looks tired. 

Her personal style, like when she’s lounging at home with Benny Blanco, is pretty accessible. I’ve noticed she is not a logo person and one of her go-tos is Free People. That’s where the bow tank below came from (it’s sold out in Canada) and it’s casual and a little quirky. There are a few brands doing tanks and bows this season (including Reformation) and ASOS?). 

There’s something about the way Selena styles Free People, maybe it’s her on-point hair and makeup, that doesn’t make it feel twee. FP is what I call a “Bojangles” brand – they always slap an unnecessary detail on a piece of clothing, a bojangle. (I know, this is the wrong context but it feels right, doesn’t it?) A bit too much of a lace trim on a flowy blouse, or a floral patch on a great pair of jeans. A bojangle! The few times I’ve attempted this brand, I feel like someone who got turned away from Coachella. I haven’t dug too deep but have they ever collaborated with Selena? This would be a great idea for a capsule collection. 

Nina Dobrev’s Friend

Sometimes I receive a request about an FOC (friend of celebrity) that is in a photo.

This time it’s for Nina Dobrev’s friend and I thought maybe these were snowpants but I was wrong, they are Acne camo pants (you can see them here, sold out). 

And I’m sure this is a me thing, but I don’t know that friend. Should I? To quote a great modern philosopher: “I don't know who this man is. I mean, he could be walking down the street, I wouldn't know a thing. Sorry to this man.”

Kylie and Timmy Sitting A Tree

By now we’ve all seen the tennis match photos of Kylie and Timmy – I was asked about her blouse, it’s Céline (the midriff tie is allll her). I want Timmy to show up somewhere in this shirt (I’m positive they share clothes). It’s totally his style and will make people so mad lol.
