As Seen On Social Media: Pants! Pants! Pants!

I know it’s technically summer but I also know it’s unofficially fall because everyone has pants on the brain. Wide leg denim, pleated black trousers, cargo pants (which are back… AGAIN). We are embracing the cool breeze. Any day now. 

Katie Holmes in pleated pants 

People are shipping Joey and Pacey (who have been hamming it up forever) but that’s not all people are after. Katie’s pants have made headlines in a bunch of fashion magazines but it leaves one big question unanswered: who made these motherf-ckers?! Excuse my language but I have looked at so many pairs of designer black pants – could they be The Row, Acne, Loro Piana, YSL, Theory? Yes, all of those designers make a pleated black pant. 

I was really partial to the Loro Piana because of the weight of the fabric and the slight sheen, but when I zoomed in on the images here it looks like Katie’s pants do not have belt loops. In fact, they look dark blue with a black band (that could be lighting). Then I honed in on these Norma Kamali pants because of the waist; I also considered these Nackiyé City Calls Pants. Are any of these exactly right? It depends on the light and the angle of the camera. 

These are all mega pricey options and if you want a pair of slouchy black trousers, Uniqlo makes a killer pair.

Demi Lovato at Camp Rock

Demi Lovato set the clock back to 2010 with her appearance with the Jonas Brothers and she looked amazing doing it. (Side note: this album cycle has been a glow-fest for her, she looks so flowy and happy.) I was specifically asked about the jeans but they are also a throwback, though more recent than Camp Rock. The jeans are Acme from the 2021 collection. So far, they haven’t been brought back but why not?  

There aren’t a ton of rhinestone jean options out there, which is odd because most seem to sell out so you'd think brands would capitalize on that interest. Maje is showing these this season,  with flower beading. Maybe that hits the right sparkle factor for you, Eillen. 

Sienna Miller: streetwear forever

What happens when It Girls consolidate their formidable powers? The Row, that’s what. And this outfit. When I was sent these jeans on Sienna Miller, I immediately understood the appeal. Slouchy in the right way, wide leg but not overwhelming. The jeans don’t hide her shoe. (Which, btw, is a Miu Miu patent red clog which she wore with the Miu Miu patch socks - $795 for a set of 3! In this economy?!)  The jeans are from the Alexa Chung X Madewell collab. Women supporting women in looking snatched for the paps. The IDs on this entire outfit are courtesy of a fan tracking account. No one does outfit hunting better than an Instagram account with “style” or “closet” combined with a celeb name. They are the real sleuths.

 

Hailey Bieber’s jeans

One great part of tracking Hailey Bieber (she is very consistently requested) is that her fan sites are on it. The other great thing is that sometimes, you score an item that is actually accessible – like the Gap jeans she’s been wearing pretty consistently all summer. As pointed out by InStyle, these are the Gap Extra Baggy Jeans in dark rinse. These are not available in Canada (here is the link to the US Gap). 

However, I have the similar Gap barrel jeans in a dark wash, love them.  

Lauren Sanchez in LV

Last and very much least, it’s a Lauren Sanchez request. Heather, I will allow it this one time! The pants from the photo you sent are from Louis Vuitton and I found a similar pair from Toast, available at Gravity Pope (in Vancouver). I thought the photo below was AI, lol.
