Rocky by RiRi

A$AP Rocky is featured on the new issue of W Magazine, photographed by none other than Rihanna. Obviously an automatic yes for the publication. Rihanna in any shape or form is already a huge get but then to have her step behind the camera for the first time, officially, to shoot a celebrity? 

Well, of course, it had to be this celebrity, her partner and the father of her children. 

Rocky is promoting his new album, Don’t Be Dumb and it’s interesting, at least for me, to hear him talk about his musical influences because I certainly wasn’t expecting Portishead to come up, alongside Wu-Tang but this is where his sound is headed. And he’s no doubt aware of the anticipation, maybe even skepticism? 

There’s been some talk in certain circles that, well, Rocky and RiRi don’t make music anymore. We all know about how long the wait has been for her next album but the knock on him is that he hasn’t really put much out since they got together either so there could be some build back cred with a specific corner of the music industry. 

Here, though? On the gossip blogs? We have what we need. Rocky as seen through the lens of the love of his life, talking about the love of his life. He says he knew very early, well before they were even a thing, that she was the one. Which is what Rihanna has also said when she’s reflected on their relationship. That there was always a future for them, they just had to be ready to step into it together.

Because look what happened once they did. They’re now a family of four. And they’re seemingly inseparable, clearly by choice – both of them are making this choice. From our gossip vantage point, it hasn’t seemed at all like Rocky and Rihanna do things apart. And it also doesn’t seem like one is tagging along to the office with the other. There are very few couples who are as famous as they are and as together as they are, equally. Beyoncé and Jay-Z come to mind as, maybe, the only other comp. Eventually, perhaps, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce but it’s wayyyyy too early to be able to say that and I’m already getting sh-t thrown at me for even slipping that in there. 

You know what hasn’t changed though? And it remains my favourite thing about Rihanna and now Rocky? Their hours, LOL. Before they were parents and after they became parents, nothing ever happens unless it’s well after midnight. Seriously I don’t know how they do it. I went to a party the other night where I left my house at 1130pm and didn’t get home until 430am and I.Am.Still.Recovering! For these two it’s a regular occurrence!
