Dear Gossips,

We are now just over three weeks away from the Benito Bowl on Sunday 8 February in Santa Clara, California so it’s right on time for a promo. And a new one dropped yesterday.

It’s short, but it doesn’t have to be extensive to fuel the anticipation, not when Bad Bunny looks this good.

It’s just the opening to “BAILE INoLVIDABLE”, before the horns kick in, but enough to set the expectation. Benito Bowl will be an “unforgettable dance”, a party for the ages, Puerto Rican style.

And as we know, that was a major motivation for Benito in accepting the invitation to do the show. He has always represented his home, and the music that comes from his motherland which, of course, is the whole spirit of the album DtMF, nominated for six Grammys, including Album of the Year, and making history for nominations in all three major Grammy categories.

I love this album, SO much. I played it relentlessly during the holidays, no skips, especially when I was cooking, which I consider a meditative activity. Food and music and Benito are an intoxicating combination, and I thought about this as I was watching Marcello Hernández’s Netflix special, American Boy, recently when he talks about Latin music, and how it just always feels like a party, even when the lyrics are either dark or weird or not exactly happy – the energy is never a buzzkill but the exact opposite.

That stadium on February 8 is going to be 12-14 minutes of pure joy radiating around the world, in every language. A good vibe, after all, is universal.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
