Brie Larson is currently on a book tour. She and her best friend, who is also a chef and food stylist, Courtney McBroom, co-wrote a cookbook together called Party People which is out now.

It’s basically recipes for every kind of party, from large gatherings to a party of one. With playlists. This of course tracks with Brie’s performance in Lessons in Chemistry, in which she played a scientist who also hosted a cooking show. The book, by Bonnie Garmus was great, and I really, really enjoyed the show, which Courtney also worked on.

What I like about Party People, based only on the cover and a few pages that Brie has shared, is that it is of course styled, and has its own style, but doesn’t feel overly styled. The colours are clashing, nothing looks overly complicated in terms of presentation. The vibe is fun and accessible, which is what a party should be if you’re hosting people you care about and want to spend time with. Here’s an example, it’s the third slide in the carousel below, because it made me laugh.

Hot dogs on a brioche bun? I’m all about that life. But LOOOOLLLL why *those* hot dogs? The skinny ones that have been grilled and not boiled?! Brie, girl, boiling is the better way with a cheap wiener, I will fight on this point.

Wieners aside, though, to me this is charming, I fully support it. I will be getting this book. She’s just too cute.

What else happened today…

Love Island USA hive, stop what you’re doing because our very own Kathleen Newman-Bremang did a podcast with Olandria! Kathleen was shipping Nicolandria hard after season seven, but she managed to be professional during this interview. (Refinery 29)

Television-watching behaviours have been studied scientifically. Binge watching or slow dripping, there is now scholarship related to these habits. (Pajiba)

If I had to redo my wedding, I would definitely consider a feather hat for some of the photos. It’s dramatic and obnoxious and, well, it’s not like weddings are never dramatic and obnoxious. Maybe for our 25 anniversary. (Go Fug Yourself)

The British royal family thought an announcement last week about Just Andrew would offset whatever heat was coming for them. Didn’t work. In fact, might have made it even worse. The pressure and the noise is not going away. (Celebitchy)

Nobody Wants This season two premieres tomorrow. Ahead of the episodes dropping, Duana has come up with a watch game but it’s also a writing workshop. (The Squawk)
