BTS drops their new English-language track “Dynamite” on Friday. Photo teasers have been released over the last couple of weeks to promote the song and today, a teaser for the video dropped on the band’s social platforms. As we’ve seen, the song feels retro – and originally it was thought that the retro vibes were pure 90s but… there’s some 70s Saturday Night Fever action happening here too, made obvious by the shot of RM, Jin, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook dancing in from a huge DISCO sign:

It’s hard to get a real sense of the song from such a short clip but the band had promised that the music would be upbeat, a mood-lifter, and they’re clearly bringing the visuals to support that energy. Also choreography. It’s not BTS if it’s not quick, complicated, and fun choreo and we’re getting a quick glimpse of it here – so if you’re reading this but you’re not ARMY, be prepared for the hysteria to follow when the full video drops on Friday. Look at me trying to make it sound like I’m not going to be one of the people squealing and watching the sh-t out of it for all the inspo – from the outfits to the hair to the makeup to the moves, and it’s not like they don’t know how to pick a song. BTS’s catalogue is full of bangers and if they’re this confident in “Dynamite” to have it kick off their comeback, with a western takeover at the MTV VMAs, there’s all kinds of potential here that this will be a monster hit.

I don’t want to do a full unpack on “Dynamite” until we actually hear it in its entirety and the complete video is released but if you’re new to BTS, please prepare yourself for whatever exquisite pain that V is about to bring to your life. V aka Kim Taehyung is the one in green – how can you miss him, he’s gorgeous. His face is unreal. And he is widely acknowledged to be the most fashion-forward among the seven members. V steeze is unusual, quirky, he experiments with shapes, prints, fit. His hair is one of the planet’s most precious resources. Look at him rock the f-ck out of this mullet, and now he’s pushing his hair off his forehead, and I feel attacked. This is a beauty assault. Like, Jesus, Taehyung, why so aggressive?
