Many of you wrote during awards season – Where’s Cate Blanchett?

She is an awards season staple. It was weird not to see her.

But she received no nominations. And Brad Pitt alone was enough to promote Benjamin Button is Boring. Besides, Cate had better things to do. As the co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company alongside her husband, Cate stayed home to rehearse. She’s acting in, like, five million Shakespearean productions at the same time, or something. Of course she is. Our Cate is an artist. She doesn’t trifle with Hollywood if not necessary.

Anyway, here’s Cate in Perth the other day for the Perth International Arts Festival supporting local talent. Truly an Australian national treasure, much more so than that Freeze.
