Cate Blanchett, who else?
She’s in New York continuing to play Blanche DuBois in A Streetcar Named Desire directed by Liv Ullmann that runs until December 20th and is sold f-cking out. I am in New York the 15th – 20th and have tried and can’t find tickets. Balls. Will not give up.
Said The New York Times about her performance:
"...how often do you get to watch an actress of such virtuosity pulling out every stop of her instrument and then some?"

Speaking of great performances, BAM is screening His Girl Friday on December 3rd. I’ve never seen it in a theatre. A film from 1940, directed by a man, in which a woman is the most capable journalist in the field and doesn’t need her lover to carry her luggage…if you haven’t, you must.
