Another week another gala
It’s gala season and the galas don’t stop! Last night it was Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards held in London, honoring, among others, Cate Blanchett, Mikey Madison, Amelia Dimoldenberg, Glenn Close, and Sam Taylor-Johnson.
Far and away the best dressed is Cate Blanchett, who turned up in Mary Katrantzou and stole the whole show:
We’re in the THIRD decade of Cate Blanchett throwing down on red carpets. She showed up to the 1999 Oscars in that hummingbird Galliano dress—conflicting feelings about that dress now!—and never let up. It’s kind of amazing how consistently she’s been a red carpet star. Like there are style stars, and there are style legends, and Cate Blanchett is a legend.
Mikey Madison, meanwhile, showed up in Dior and Tiffany jewels. It’s nice. It’s lovely. Her high contrast complexion/hair combo really sells it. I remain unconvinced that Mikey Madison is actually trying to be a style star, though. She always looks nice, but she’s never pushing the envelope. I keep seeing people rave about her style, but I wonder if she’s stylish or if she’s just pale.
Amelia Dimoldenberg was recognized as an “innovator”, which is she is, she’s one of the founders of the chicken marketing hook for celebrity interviews, and now she’s preparing for her next phase, as she is ending Chicken Shop Date. Whatever she does next, I hope it involves better than this Stella McCartney dress:

I really wanted a look at the back of this dress, because it appears to have some kind of cowl or cape or wings situation, which is definitely not helping but IS making me curious about what is going on back there.
In a much better white dress is Elizabeth Debicki (tall), wearing Susie Cave:
Finally, Annabelle Wallis emerged, sans Sebastian Stan, in Zimmermann and Tiffany jewelry (I believe that’s an Elsa Peretti “bone” cuff, wonder if it’s vintage?).

It’s been a busy year for Wallis, besides having her first child (with Stan), she also starred in a Jason Statham Movie—they don’t have names, they’re just Jason Statham Movies—and also appeared in the Netflix series Unabomber with Jacob Tremblay and Shailene Woodley. I have not watched that series yet but I cannot believe Jacob Tremblay is old enough to reach his “portraying serial killers” phase.
