Whoever is in charge of booking guests for Amy Poehler’s podcast is doing an excellent job. Not that I think it’s pulling teeth to get people to hang out with Amy Poehler but the standards are high – Martin Short, Kathryn Hahn, Jack Black? Come on.
Now I’m wondering who wants to get on and hasn’t been booked yet.
We are getting a lot of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds news and it’s nearly impossible to separate them from the lawsuits right now but if I can for one quick second, these two go hard on promotion. Again, aside from the lawsuit (which is very out of control in terms of social media) they really love their crossovers. And the press for Another Simple Favor has zero crossover with Blake Brown, Betty Buzz or Betty Booze. All three of these products would be very well-suited to mingle with this particular film but for obvious reasons, she can’t. And now what? How can these three labels survive without their founder and biggest marketing draw?
I comfort-watch Curb Your Enthusiasm the same way people do Friends or The Office and JB Smooth consistently makes me scream with laughter. His explanation of the process is so interesting – it was completely improvised. I can’t wrap my head around it, although it explains why the show has such nonexistent continuity. It’s one of the things I loved about Curb, it would pick up and drop storylines and characters all the time. More shows should do that.
Have we been hard on Katy Perry? The collective we, as in the internet or the discourse, or whatever you want to call it. I think she’s a safe target for a lot of reasons, between the album and Blue Origin and the tour (what tour? The world tour). Will this be one of those scenarios that we look back on as an internet pile-on?
Misa Hylton is suing Mary J. Blige; the two are longtime friends and Hylton is/was Mary’s stylist. The details are messy (as all lawsuits are), with allegations of sabotage and contract interference (you can read more details at Vibe). When a divorce happens, lawyers are expected. But for a long-time friendship and workplace relationship to end like this (if it is the end, maybe they can reconcile) it’s quite dramatic. And right before the Met Gala in a year where the looks they collaborated on 100% have a connection to the theme.
