Sofia Richie Grainge is RICH rich (her father-in-law is CEO and chairman of Universal Music) and she sometimes posts photos of her baby in little designer pieces she probably receives as gifts. So why did she collaborate with Amazon on a baby line? It’s not for money, that’s for sure.

Sofia’s worked with a few brands, including Solid & Striped and I think the long-term goal is to get some experience before launching her own label. And it will be like The Row for Zillenials.

When I saw this podcast post the first thing I thought is Goop is down bad. Gwyneth Paltrow used to only show up for A-list guests but it seems like the format has been rejigged; Cleo Wade is the host when GP isn’t there and they are interviewing a lot more beauty, health and wellness people with a Goop slant (like a “holistic psychologist”). If I were to guess, I would think these guests are tied into a sponsorship or ad buy. I can’t imagine there’s an ROI on Gwyneth's time for these interviews without a deal. And if we think about other celebrity podcasts like Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert and Smartless, Goop hasn’t been able to get its podcast arm going.

Remember Goopfellas? That was a real thing. This is what Goop has always struggled with on the media side – constantly picking up and dropping projects, changing formats, launching things only to have them disappear. The only thing they do consistently is market the retail side.

Harry Styles’s Pleasing line is collaborating with JW Anderson on nail polish and knits and it got me thinking, we haven’t seen Harry at work in a minute. After the album and the tour and the best kind of mess, he has taken a break from the public eye. This new project is not a moneymaker but a passion project. But a consistent issue pop stars run into, especially ones who were teen stars, is that the fandom feels a certain expectation. Right now many of Harry’s fans are upset at the price (4 polishes are $120) but this isn’t merch, it’s a designer collaboration. So the expectation is skewed. Harry drapes himself in designer clothing, including JW’s knits and Gucci for days – he’s not collaborating with H&M. This is his lane. Or maybe I’m just biased because I want this balloon jumper.

This perfectly encapsulates Paris Hilton’s persona – how can we be nostalgic for something that has never left?
