Benson Boone is all over the radio but until now he has existed to me in theory, like quantum physics. Sure it exists but it’s none of my business. But now he’s a great example of a Grammys breakout performance – everyone is talking about his backflip and little jumpsuit.
I had to learn more so I googled his real name. It’s Benson Boone. I couldn’t believe it.

My favourite genre of Super Bowl commercial is “celebrities promoting a service they would never use.” That’s Martha Stewart for Uber Eats. Ordering delivery is so uncouth. As if this woman would order a Caesar salad that sits in a box – who would ensure the right anchovy to egg ratio for the dressing? Then there’s Greta Gerwig at the end, appearing in the commercial but not directing it. This is a “dream kitchen reno” cheque. But Charli XCX and Matthew McConaughey? They definitely order takeout, it’s a cornerstone of enjoying certain imbibements.
I can’t find it now but I read a tweet that said Drake has been destroyed by a cutie patootie and I can’t stop thinking about it.

Shifting from the Grammys to the Oscars, my most-anticipated of the night is Demi Moore. She and her stylist Brad Goreski are no doubt in deep preparation and she has shown so many incredible looks over the last two years, I can’t wait to see what she pulls out. And my guess is it will be Armani – they have quite a long relationship.
Then there’s Ariana Grande, who Variety has pegged as the current favourite in her category. (Sarah noted earlier that Zoe Saldaña’s Oscar campaign has been jeopardised by her co-star.)
It will be a big dress for sure and I was thinking pink (for the Wicked theme) but last year she wore a bubblegum pink Giambattista Valli gown so I don’t think she will repeat the designer or the colour.
Goop’s affordable skin care line good.clean.goop is still on shelves at Amazon and Target but hasn’t updated its Instagram page since October, which is the first sign that a product line is no longer a priority. The chews are on clearance. Sluggish sales are not exclusive to this line – Estee Lauder is laying off thousands of employees and in 2024, Sephora did a heavy round of layoffs in China. What that means for celebrity brands is that they have to fight for every customer, just like established brands do. Coasting on a name or a face isn’t enough when people’s discretionary spending isn’t stretching.
