Everybody’s talking about, and reacting to, Barack Obamas Best of 2019 books and movies and television. At post time President Obama has yet to release his music list. That’s probably coming today. Jia Tolentino’s Trick Mirror was mentioned – and it deserves to be. Because, f-ck, it’s so ridiculously brilliant, I almost hate her but I love her.

YESSSSSS Lulu Wang and The Farewell! Have you seen this movie yet? Duana finally watched it on Saturday December 21 and I know and remember this because she texted me during Eddie Murphy’s return to Saturday Night Live, which I thought she’d be watching, to cry at me about how RIGHT it is, how Lulu captured specifically the family dynamics that immigrants understand.

And big ups to Olivia Wilde and Booksmart! Now I’m trying to imagine Barack Obama’s face during the scene in the Lyft:

While President Obama is telling us his “bests” and others are sharing their “bests” and “worsts”, what about the “just fines”? The ones that don’t belong on either?

The top pick on my “just fine” list is The Irishman. It’s FINE. It’s not great. It doesn’t suck. It’s nothing new. It’s OK. It’s the most OK film of the year.

As you know, this is usually Maria’s space and I’m taking over for her while she’s away. Maria’s been keeping an eye on Julianne Hough because she hasn’t posted about Brooks Laich in a while. And some of you are curious about this too. Julianne stepped out in LA a couple of days ago (photos attached to this post). Five days ago she posted about her Christmas tree:

Around the same time, Brooks posted that he was in Hawaii the week before:

They haven’t yet shared if they were together for Christmas. But. She left this comment. Everything’s OK then? Or is it?

Sharon Stone is on Bumble. Or at least she was until they closed her account because some people thought it would be impossible that she’d be on Bumble. So she told Bumble that it’s not impossible and would they please just let a girl get a date for New Year’s? Or, you know, it could have been a promotion and marketing.

Speaking of dating apps, we found out a couple of weeks ago that Channing Tatum and Jessie J broke up and he’s now on Raya. Jessie, meanwhile, is reviewing her best moments of the year. Is this a thirst trap?

While John Legend is trying to watch football, Chrissy Teigen is bothering him about hashtags. This is correct.
