Brie Larson debuted her pixie cut for Elektra; its West End run starts in January. 

 

The amount of “Jennifer Garner is Elektra” comments is mildly depressing. 

 

Last night Tom Cruise was trending on Twitter and this morning Lainey wrote about Wicked’s box-office triumph this weekend, and while these two things are not related, I do wonder if Tommy was one of the many Wicked viewers this weekend. I think so, maybe a Gladiator II/Wicked double bill because as we know, Tommy lives for the pictures. I think he watches a ton of movies, but how does that work when an ex is in so much stuff? 

 

Do you think he avoids Nicole Kidman’s films? I honestly don’t, because if we know anything about this man it is this: he loves CINEMA. He probably sits through her whole AMC spiel. 

 

One more Ariana-specific Wicked post: the announcement of her and Cynthia’s casting was in 2021. Ariana reportedly split from Scooter Braun in 2023, but then in 2024 teamed with Hybe, which is led by Scooter. It seems like he was involved in her audition process, visited her on set, and the 2023 split may have been driven by personal drama (rumour has long been she was annoyed he wasn’t around during the height of the affair fallout). But these two can’t quit each other. They’ve split and gotten back together at least twice, and that’s official breakups. If they are going through the paperwork to separate their business relationship, twice!, imagine how often they are breaking up and cooling down and making up behind the scenes. 

 

An A-lister, a B-lister and a bunch of C-listers at a furniture store holiday party? I don’t know what the economists say but this is a 2008-recession vibe. 

 

Just as the Menendez brothers might be getting out of prison, Lyle and his wife announce their separation after 21 years of marriage. This reminds me of the Chris Rock joke: “Marriage is so tough, Nelson Mandela got divorced. He got out of jail after 27 years of torture, spent six months with his wife and said, ‘I can’t take this sh-t no more.’” This was Chris Rock in the throes of his post-divorce angst and on a tour that centered around him moaning about alimony. Chris did his best work when he was married though.
