Padma Lakshmi’s spice drawer… the lead up, the anticipation. It’s what I imagined. And this is her everyday spices, not the entire stash. I was not expecting the second drawer. And we didn’t even get to see the pantry.

Is it too early for Christmas? The trees are up at Costco and Jimmy Fallon has an album to sell! To be sure I checked with the Queen of Christmas – her first holiday post was on October 9th for a pre-order so I think he gets a pass.

A cross-generational backstage hang and jam session with Joni Mitchell and Elton John – this is so great.

In a theoretical way, what happened to Jake Gyllenhaal? He has made some interesting films and chooses not to be mega famous but when I look at Paul Mescal in the new Gladiator, it reminds me a lot of Jake a decade ago (remember Prince of Persia?).

It feels like every male actor who has some buzz has to do a historical action movie: Kit Harrington in Pompeii, Gerard Butler in 300, Michael Fassbender in Centurion, Alexander Skarsgård in The Northman. These big budget films are very hit and miss. But to tie a bow on it, Jake is doing just fine – he’s starring in Othello with Denzel Washington, who might be in the thick of Oscar season. Does Denzel campaign? I don’t think so, he doesn’t need to.

As Lainey mentioned, it’s a Gladiator II vs Wicked 1 face-off in theatres, with Moana 2 in the mix as well.  Wicked has been going full bore for months, Gladiator and is picking up and Moana? So far, its biggest star has been pretty quiet. Obviously this is strategic but it’s just over a month away. Maybe he didn’t want to compete with the election news cycle.

Busy Philipps is right, everyone needs a friend like Jesse Tyler who will push for a selfie retake if everyone isn’t looking their best. This is true ride-or-die behaviour.

Is Laid going to be the next Nobody Wants This? December is a great time to drop it, it’s the antithesis of the Hallmark movie.
