I am not going to get into politics because I’d like this to be a space people can breathe a bit and enjoy the absurdity of life but I’ve been hot on Wendi Deng’s tail for years and noticed she didn’t attend yesterday (or wasn’t photographed, which isn’t like her). 

 

At the first Trump inaguriation, Wendi, Dasha Zhukova (who is married to Stavros Niarchos III) were guests of Ivanka’s and hung out with Derek Blasberg (who was there with CNN). There was not even a hint of that this time around and Wendi hasn’t posted about Ivanka in ages. Either those women don’t want to go near the inauguration (don’t blame them) or the pieces on the board have shifted and there’s a new HBIC.

 

I ate the Meghan and Harry story in Vanity Fair right up because of the insight about Meghan. Harry is just kind of hanging around, it doesn’t seem like there’s a lot going on there. I texted Lainey after I read it and said, “Withholding, self-editing, image-obsessed and effusive-to-ice cold - she IS a lifestyle editor.” I worked in the industry for a long time and these are the common traits, particular for “brand builders.” It takes a certain kind of ego to believe your life is so amazing that everyone wants it and that by sharing yourself, you are providing a service. 

 

It also struck me how good it felt to read about them in a way that is gossipy but trustworthy. This is US legacy media with no anti-Meghan agenda. It’s also not bursting with scandal; their Montecito neighbours don’t like them, which is interesting to a high-level gossip but not exactly headline-grabbing. This story is a slow-burn and will be a piece we reference in the future.. 

 

Ice T’s youngest daughter Chanel is adorable. And yes, twins! From this one photo you can tell she absolutely calls the shots. He’s powerless. 

 

There are rumblings via DeuxMoi on Emily Ratajkowski and Austin Butler. No idea if it’s true, but I’d be into it. 

 

Austin Butler got me thinking of Kaia Gerber, who has also dated Pete Davidson and Jacob Elordi. They are all tall. She is a 23-year-old model and rising actress, date all the men Kaia! (Except maybe Leo.)
