Channing Tatum says he’s done with the big swings in his body composition and who can blame him. His macro/micro charting must look like the Good Will Hunting chalkboards.
Seth Rogen was on Howard Stern and I like what he says about the “Hollywood is dead” sentiment and he’s right; people probably said this when the studio system died, or there was a mega-flop with movie stars, screaming “it’s all over!” I don’t know enough about the business to comment on history, but has it ever been easy to make artistically interesting, commercially successful work? No, it’s really f-cking hard and it’s always been hard. And like Seth says, one hit can change everything. That’s what makes it Hollywood. It’s art and gambling and a crazy kind of hope merged together.
There are so many things that could go wrong with this old-fashioned print and the poufy shoulders, but Christian Siriano on Christina Hendricks is gorgeous! Like really, really good. This got me wondering who is styling her as she hasn’t been tagging her longtime stylist Lawren Sample in her recent posts.
Rebecca Loos is in the headlines for her interview on 60 Minutes Australia, asserting that she did have an affair with David Beckham. Yes, we know. And I don’t really get the timing of this as a bit of time has passed since the documentary and in the doc, he didn’t deny the affair. How could he? She makes the point that she is going up against a powerful couple and wanted to get ahead of the story, but what pushed her to expose him is that he left her at a party to go off with a model.
It’s kind of similar to Tiger Woods and Rachel Uchitel, who had no idea what he was doing with many other women. Mistresses who are cheated on is kind of a pop culture subgenre.
Meghan Sussex sent a newsletter today saying it’s time for As ever (that’s how it’s styled now, with the lower case e) with raspberry spread, honey, crepes and tea. Where is the price list, I’m so curious how much it will all cost.
We live in an attention economy and even gossips have limited bandwidth. I feel there’s been a shift – Adam Scott is at the center of the attention economy right now, he is everywhere. But other things that were getting a lot of attention, like Yellowjackets, are on the outskirts. Maybe it’s my specific algorithm but it’s also a cultural cycle: for something to rise, something else must fall.
