Bella Hadid has taken a big step back from modeling and focused on her health and perfume line. She showed up in Cannes for Chopard and specifically says it is not out of contractual obligation but her admiration for the brand’s co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele.
If she ever returns to the runway, I think it will be a similar personal relationship that gets her there.
I waited a few days to read the Rolling Stone profile on Kid Rock and got into it last night. It’s fascinating not because of Kid Rock (who is likened to an uncle who shows up to Thanksgiving in a MAGA hat) but, like all things celebrity, how it mirrors what is happening in the world. The reporter David Peisner does a wonderful job going deep on Rock’s early musical roots in Detroit and purposefully does not react to Kid Rock’s baiting tactics, which include using the n-word multiple times.
The thing with Kid Rock is he is literally begging to be “canceled” because that’s his livelihood. But he’s not popular enough to be canceled; he’s 10 years from his last hit. He blames it all on his politics but there are plenty of popular country artists who support Trump and it’s not like he’s burning up country radio, either. The way he draws an audience now is MAGA-heavy festivals in smaller towns. He can’t get a radio hit and he can’t fill stadiums and he can’t get a Vegas residence so he has crafted an excuse for his waning career: snowflakes, Democrats, the left-wing media. But the non-reaction to this Rolling Stone story goes to show how small his audience is: imagine if Keith Urban or John Mayer or Dave Grohl used the n-word in an interview? There would be an uproar, and rightfully so. This Kid Rock story isn’t making headlines because he doesn’t draw an audience. He’s just a 53-year-old man who is impulsive, greedy, argumentative and all the -ists, surrounded by “yes” people in his gaudy mansion as the world leaves him behind.
Regretfully, I am not a Survivor fan because I don’t know where to start or how to catch up. Pod Save America co-host Jon Lovett is part of the next season and I don’t think this show does stunt casting, so I wonder how it works: does being a “name” work for or against contestants? I need guidance, it’s very daunting.
The sequel to Beyoncé and Lady Gaga’s “Telephone” has not happened… yet. But the Beyhive has been on alert for it a few times and with this new Ms. Tina video there’s a fresh round of speculation.
In the nepo-baby ecosystem, how many are third generation? Drew Barrymore, Dakota Johnson and Billie Lourde are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head but I know there are more I’m missing. Romy Mars has dropped her first act – music. I’m sure acting or directing will follow eventually. Actually, she’s already had her first act: the viral video with her babysitter’s boyfriend talking about how she was grounded for chartering a helicopter to visit a camp friend.
