I watched this trailer for Joshua Jackson’s new show and laughed out loud three times. He’s a SEXY doctor on BOAT with RICH people. And Don Jonson is there handing out boat metaphors and there’s something mysterious about this ship and people are constantly flatlining and crashing.
But the cruise must go on, no matter how many people fall overboard!!!! I guess they didn’t bring Joshua Jackson in to treat food poisoning and dehydration from hangovers.
Grudges: healthy boundary or “drinking poison and expecting the other person to die” stubbornness? I don’t have the answer, but I do know that no one holds a grudge like a rock star. They are out there fighting on stage (literally) and recently REO Speedwagon announced a split due to “irreconcilable differences”. They’ve been a band for almost 50 years! How have those differences not been reconciled?!
The Hollywood Reporter published a report last week on how Meghan and Harry work. I read the US trades a lot and trust their reporting much more than any British tabloid. In this story, there’s no blazing gotcha moment, but more of a culmination of issues around their reputation for being indecisive and unserious. There’s also some rehashing of reports from the Daily Mail, which weakens the story.
But this is less of a Meghan takedown and more of an analysis of why the Sussexes are in limbo. It reads like the kind of inside-baseball gossip the Sussexes are encountering in California among decision-makers and my sense is that they can’t be relied on to do the work. That isn’t to say they are short on opportunities or wins (her lifestyle brand has a massive following without releasing a single product to market, and his memoir was a hit) but there might be something here.
Taylor Sheridan is extending ranch-core to Las Vegas with a steakhouse. This actually makes a lot of sense because people obsessed with his shows will be into the experience of it. What kind of cracks me up is that Taylor tries to project a very hard-ass, salt-of-the-Earth, f-ck Hollywood persona and the opening was packed with celebs. Oh and the restaurant is in the Wynn – not exactly a working man’s watering hole.
I’m here to talk about Derek Blasberg and NOT the toilet incident. His longtime partner Nick Brown is typically with him at events and Derek has been out a lot (makes sense, it’s fashion week and that’s his thing) without Nick. He mentioned him in a mid-August birthday post, which was much less effusive than what he posted for designer Jonathan Anderson. This could be because Derek’s a sycophant but doesn’t feel the need to be that way at home. Or, there’s something going on at home? Hard to tell. But he’s working a lot and hustling harder, which means more time away from his family. Times are tight for everyone, including the fashion industry. Brands are not flush with cash and the consulting jobs are the first to be cut from budgets – that is Derek’s lane. He’s already tried pivoting to video (a big nothingburger at YouTube), cozied up to influencers, been a brand advisor etc. What is left to monetize?
