Harper Seven is 13?! I remember Victoria being pregnant at Will and Kate’s wedding. And she still doesn’t have a public Instagram, which I love. (Although she’d probably prefer TikTok since Instagram is to teens what Facebook is to Millennials – very dated.)
The Beckhams have been criticized for sharing their family too much—actually, just Victoria has—but in the grand scheme of social media, it’s pretty innocent and seems very happy. This upsets the UK tabloids more than anything.
Today in As Seen On Social Media, I wrote about Margot Robbie, which led me to her stylist Andrew Mukamal, which led me to Channing Tatum and Zoe Kravitz. I’ve kind of wondered about them but they were both at the Fly Me to the Moon premiere the other night and still working with Andrew, so things are good.
Lindsay Hubbard announced her pregnancy on Instagram, about a year after her engagement to Carl Radke ended. Stephanie has written about this (and like many things Bravo, there are differing opinions – I think Carl is a sniveling, manipulative weasel, not a communicative nice guy) and I thought Bravo and producers really bent over backwards to portray her as this “hysterical woman” when the only hysterical person in the house is Kyle Cook.
Anyway, the latest criticism is that she sponsored her pregnancy announcement, but I don’t understand why this is a big deal. Sponcon pregnancy announcements have been happening for years. It’s pretty much standard for reality TV stars to do this and considering the story around her failed engagement and the rumours flying around, it was smart to cash in. Summer House is built around single people who “work hard, play hard” in New York. Hard to (pretend) to do a summer share with a baby. She’s clearly setting herself up for her next era.
Over the last few months, I’ve been wondering about how involved celebrities will be in the upcoming election in terms of endorsements and fundraisers. Some, like The Rock, have declared they won’t declare. There are a lot of reasons people get annoyed with these endorsements, which can feel self-righteous and scoldy (in my opinion). It’s also strange when people actively try to guess who a celebrity voted for based on clues, creating theories based on not much at all. Some famous names focus on local elections and a specific cause, like Kerry Washington and Busy Philipps with abortion rights and Julianne Moore with gun violence. I think that’s what we will see more of moving forward. And with that, breaking news that George Clooney has written an op-ed for the NYT asking Biden to drop out. (I’m not being shady with the Instagram choice, he doesn’t have his own account!)
