Charlize Theron and Seth Rogen were in Vegas for CinemaCon yesterday to promote Long Shot and they were presented with the Comedy Stars of the Year Award. Long Shot was well-received at SXSW last month, Charlize and Seth’s chemistry is reportedly really strong, and as we saw last year, the rom-com has been revived. Since she’s promoting a romantic comedy though, there are going to be romance questions. Is Charlize a “long shot”? Here’s what she told ET about her romantic status:
“I’ve been single for 10 years, it’s not a long shot. Somebody just needs to grow a pair and step up,” she said. “I’m shockingly available.”
“She’s out there,” Rogen added.
“I’ve made it very clear,” Theron insisted.
The last time we talked about Charlize’s love life, it was back in January, when the Sun reported that she and Brad Pitt were all over each other at Chateau Marmont, which turned out to be bullsh-t because 1. it was the Sun and 2. how likely would it be for those two to be making out at the Chateau in the heat of award season and no one else saw except for a source who told the Sun TWO WEEKS LATER. F-ck off.
That said, it doesn’t mean Brad Pitt can’t still, as Charlize says, grow a pair and step up, although…have we talked about whether or not that would make it awkward with Sean Penn? Brad and Sean are friends. But when Charlize says she’s been single for 10 years, she’s clearly not counting Sean because they were together in 2013 and were even engaged at one point before she may or may not have ghosted him a couple of years later. She denies the ghosting but… hilariously, she kinda is ghosting him now by Eternal Sunshine-ing him from her romantic history.
If it’s not going to be Brad Pitt …then who? I have a suggestion. That’s coming up in the next post.
For now, let’s appreciate Seth Rogen’s glow-up. He looks really good, right? Both in his casual suit, with sneakers, and in his cocktail suit, with the printed shirt and the bright tie. And he confirmed to ET that, indeed, he’s been making more of an effort – and the “shockingly available” Charlize is the reason:
“I was highly aware I was going to be standing next to Charlize for a lot of pictures. I always have that image in my head of us like Beyoncé next to Ed Sheeran in a T-shirt and I was like, ‘I don’t want that’.”
There it is, the comparison I’m going to use the next time Leonardo DiCaprio steps out in sweatpants with Camila Morrone, or whatever model he next dates – he’s the Ed Sheeran next to Beyoncé.
