Oscar Best Dressed: Coleman Domingo (Sarah)
The Oscars fashion was so boring this year, I let out a sigh of relief when I saw Colman Domingo on the red carpet. Finally! Someone with some pizzazz! Someone with some oomph! Someone with a goddamn individual sense of style! Though I bristle to admit it because Jacek was pushing for a Colman best dressed dub, and I slightly resent giving in to his peer pressure. But there wasn’t much else to go with!
Colman Domingo is one of the most reliable red carpet dressers, not in that he always wears the same thing, but because he DOESN’T. Colman is a man of style and taste and fearless fashion moments, who considers his outfits as more than just clothing, but as “stories” he is telling. He also pays attention to tailoring, which a lot of men don’t. Just look at the fit!
Colman is wearing custom Valentino, with Boucheron jewelry, including a vintage brooch. Lots of dudes wearing brooches last night, but Colman was an early exemplar of the trend.
I love the color blocking of the red jacket/shirt and black pants, and I love trading traditional buttons for the sash on the tuxedo jacket. It’s just the kind of twist we’ve come to expect from Colman, who plays so much with style elements. He looks great, but when doesn’t he?
And I’m not going to lie, part of choosing Colman as my best dressed is just that he is FUN. He is someone who never seems bored or apathetic about what’s going on, he allows himself to have fun at events like the Oscars. Just look at him getting the crowd going during a commercial break!

For being maximally stylish, immaculately tailored, and perpetually fun, Colman Domingo is my best dressed.
