Dear Gossips,

Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show at the Super Bowl is now the most-watched of all time. And that moment where he smiles devilishly at the camera, “Say, Drake”, continues to dominate the algorithm – a meme that will go on for a long, long time. I’m sure we’ve all seen the ones where it’s about revenge, or plotting someone’s downfall.

This one, however, remains my favourite:

Kendrick probably expected this kind of reaction to his performance, or at least knew that people would react to specific moments designed to melt down the internet. I wonder, though, if he could ever anticipate how obsessed people would be over… his jeans. The Cut went so far as to say that Kendrick’s jeans “stole the show” - because they’re so polarising. Some people hate the bootcut look, others are all about it, no matter the gender. Vogue is now wondering whether or not it’ll become a trend for men. Cracked cited five reasons why we cannot allow Kendrick to bring them back.

Now Page Six with the exclusive – those jeans are women’s size 29, Céline, originally intended to be worn by Timothée as they work with the same stylist, Taylor McNeil. Timmy, no doubt, is a fashion star, but if those jeans were on him, they wouldn’t have become as viral as they are. There’s a height difference, there’s a body shape difference, and one of the reasons people are so preoccupied with these jeans is because a short king like Kendrick, who does not have a waify build, typically isn’t encouraged to go bootcut.

Wait. So maybe he DID know that the jeans would turn into a thing.

Given their multiple connections, do you think Kendrick and Timmy text each other? And have they been texting each other about the jeans? Someone please ask him this on the next red carpet.

Yours in gossip,

Lainey
